We test drove Downy UNSTOPABLES™ In Wash Scent Booster. According to Downy, you add the feisty freshness of Downy UNSTOPABLES, an in wash scent booster, that goes beyond everyday freshness to keep active wear, towels, and other fabrics smelling “wow” right up until the next wash. So every day, you can indulge in the freshness you crave. They come in two scents: Fresh and Lush.
About $7 for a 13.2 oz container.
I’m cuddling my fresh pillow cases in my arms right now and taking a whif- they smell like… summer! I tried the “lush” scented Downey UNSTOPABLES in my top load washing machine, right along with my detergent. It was so easy to just drop in a half-lid-full of the little “pearls” of perfume (no, it’s not perfume) right before the detergent. I was concerned that the bedding would all be bathed in perfume but fortunately, it just smells as fresh as if I’d used a clothesline and a few squirts of lavender linen spray. That’s what I usually do (the spray, not the clothesline) but now I get fresh clothes just by doing my regular laundry- and adding this cool little helper to every load. I’m sold.
I don’t wear perfume or burn strong smelling candles around my house. I much prefer the simple clean smell of good old fashion soap. So I was skeptical about what I thought could be potentially an overly scented laundry product. But I was pleasantly surprised by Downey UNSTOPABLES. The scent was clean and light. Secondly, I was concerned about a waxy feeling that often accompanies scented fabric softeners, but there was none. The towels I washed came out clean and fluffy. I will definitely buy this product. However, since I am a forgetful DSP, remembering to add it to my laundry soap is another story.
We all know DSP Dixie is the DSP who dreads cleaning, laundry and most traditional housework. Doesn’t everyone? Sometimes I wonder if I hate to clean because I am bad at it or I am bad at cleaning because I hate it? Whatever the source, anything to make laundry less dreadful, I am all for! I sampled the “lush” Downey UNSTOPABLES which was similar to one of my favorite scents: lavender. They are easy to use and really made the unsorted (towels, whites, sheets) wash smell good. The scent did lesson after the dryer which was a bit of a disappointment.
Overall, I really liked them (except for the fact that they don’t tell you how much to use. “Shake a little or a lot”. Huh? Of course they want you to shake a lot. I was born in the morning, but not this morning).
Stinky clothes. It’s a family affair ’round this household. My kids bop down the stairs ready for school sporting the very same shirt, pants (God forbid– underwear!) they wore 1 day, 2 days, even 3 days ago. My youngest wears her Cinderella dress again and again. It happens with my husband, too.
I’ve heard the stories of college guys using baby powder to “freshen” their undies or, worse yet– flipping them inside-out to get a few more “good” days out of ‘em, but really? At age 45? Nah, he doesn’t quite go to that extreme, but he certainly has a different sense of what smells fresh and what’s a real stinker!
What’s WORSE? Seems I am the only one with the sensitive schnoz.
What’s BETTER? A little secret I like to sprinkle into the wash to take away the stink: “Downy Unstopables“.
It works! It really keeps clothes smelling fresh a heck of a lot longer, which means less laundry for this Domestic Square Peg— and fewer flies following my kids home from school
