Nurse Kris: Your (almost) Daily Dose

So you’ve got a big zit*.  C’mon, you KNOW you want to pop it, but everything you’ve ever read says NOT TO!
Truth is, even skin docs have popped their own pimples from time to time and here’s how they do it:

1)  Wash your hands.
2)  Heat the area with a warm washcloth.
3)  Disinfect pimple with a small amount of rubbing alcohol .
4)  Use a sterilized comedone extractor (avoid your fingers– they could leave a scar).
5)  Afterwards, spot treat with a little acne gel or lotion with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid to tame inflammation.

*Only attempt to pop pimples with visible pus– otherwise you might just end-up irritating your skin.
