Nurse Kris: Your (almost) Daily Dose

Jim of Alaska wants to know what color pee should be?

There are several answers to this particular question:  the simple one is clear to dark yellow.
More specific answer?  Bright Yellow is usually a side effect of vitamins.  Dark Yellow means you are not getting enough to drink. Pinkish-red is no good and may mean you have a urinary tract infection or worse.  And if you are a wacky color such as florescent blue-green or orange, don’t worry– think about what you’ve been eating with food coloring in it or maybe you are taking a particular medication that might be causing it.  For example, carrots can turn pee orange.
Nurse Kris Rx: Keep in mind, urine is there primarily to get rid of toxins or things that would otherwise build up in the body that would be bad for the body, so it can look different from time to time.
