Honest Earth All Natural Creamy Mashed Potatoes are gluten free and contain no chemical additives or preservatives. Actually they only have three ingredients: Potatoes, Butter and Sea Salt. They can be purchased at Costco and the box contains 14, eight-serving pouches.
Beauty is, you can make them in the microwave or on the stove and it only takes a few minutes. Simply boil 2- 2/3 cups water, add a cup of milk, stir in the pouch of potatoes and let it sit for 10 seconds and you have mashed potatoes. You can add butter, sour cream chives, bacon, roasted garlic– or nothin’.
150 calories per serving, 1 g fat, 1 g sugar and 17g carbs. Just add that to the 3000+ calories you’re already consuming this Thursday and call it a day– who’s counting on Thanksgiving anyway?
Hallelujah! Mashed potatoes are my nemesis. My kids love them. They are gluten-free. Inexpensive. And a pain in the rear to make! Bad combo. There are several things in life I love to eat, but refuse to make at home: biscuits, fried chicken, sushi and mashed potatoes. I have tried every manner of “instant” or already prepared mashed taters and most taste like paste, even with a heap full of gravy or butter.
Just add water, some butter (I used half of what the directions call for) and mix. I’ll stick to being good at making a mean kale salad and sassy margarita … that’s DSP Dixie in a nutshell.
I stopped mashing potatoes back about 10 Thanksgivings ago– too much work. But when I found the little bag of perfectly proportioned dehydrated taters ready to eat (just add hot water) I decided to give it another try. I got mashed potatoes super fast and easy. That’s the good part. Bad part: not so tasty to me and my family. Therefore, Honest Earth Creamy Mashed Potatoes is a fit and a fail for this cook, who usually likes easy, but also tasty shortcuts.
Unlike Connie, I LOVE, what my family fondly refers to as– “fake” mashed potatoes (even though they are indeed REAL! I love the taste! Not sure why since I always remember my mom smashing real spuds, but I love ‘em. These fit the quick and easy DSP bill. They are inexpensive, tasty and did I mention quick, quick, quick! Go for it, no one will be the wiser.
